Real Madrid have had to deal with several injury problems already this season. The lack of depth in certain positions has always been a concern for some fans and now, it looks like things might be going from bad to worse for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Two key starters have picked up injuries while Los Blancos were already struggling for form.

Real Madrid lost against Villarreal at the weekend to go three points behind Barcelona in the La Liga title race. Their performances since the return from the World Cup break have been uninspiring, despite picking up wins over Real Valladolid and Cacereno before the defeat.

As reported by AS, Real Madrid have confirmed that David Alaba and Aurelien Tchouameni are both injured. Thus, the duo will not be able to take part in the upcoming Spanish Super Cup.

Of course, both of them have been important to Ancelotti’s plans this season. Alaba is the starting centre-back, who fills in at left-back in the absence of Ferland Mendy. On the other hand, Tchouameni has been a revelation since his move from AS Monaco in the summer and taken up Casemiro’s role in the team.

It is safe to say that Los Blancos were already going through a bit of a struggle and now, things could only get harder without two of their better performers in Alaba and Tchouameni.

The club are better equipped to deal with the absence of Alaba at centre-back, thanks to the presence of Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao and Nacho Fernandez. Things might be a bit more tighter at left-back, with Mendy the only recognised option now.

On the other hand, it will be interesting to see how Real Madrid deal with the absence of Tchouameni, who has been an undroppable this season.
