After years of disappointments, it looks like Manchester United are finally back on the path to success. While they have not won any silverware under the management of Erik ten Hag yet, it is clear that the signs are positive and the Red Devils are showing a lot more consistency now than they have in recent years. A couple of Real Madrid legends have played a part in that.

Even when Manchester United had come second in the Premier League a couple of years back, during the run of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the manager of the club, it was a chaotic season and a lot of their results depended on them turning games around after falling behind early.

This time around, Manchester United seem a lot more assured. And it can directly be linked with their signing of Casemiro in the summer.

Many had questioned Manchester United’s decision to splash out to sign Casemiro in a £60 million deal from Real Madrid. But their decision has been proven right, with the Brazilian making a positive impact on the team. And it looks like Raphael Varane was instrumental in the move happening.

As reported by The Athletic (via Metro), Varane gave a glowing reference of Casemiro’s character and his leadership skills to Manchester United, while the French centre-back gave assurances that the Real Madrid legend is not the type of player to seek an ‘easy pay day’.

Of course, Varane will have known Casemiro very well from their time at Real Madrid, where the duo won four Champions League titles together.

Now, they are making a difference at Manchester United as well, even though both are further along in their careers and considered as veterans these days. Let’s see if they are able to guide the Red Devils back to their glory days.

Surprisingly, Casemiro’s exit has not come as a major blow to Real Madrid either, as Aurelien Tchouameni has proven to be a revelation since joining from AS Monaco and taken up his place in the starting XI.
