Real Madrid’s injury nightmare is showing no signs of ending. The hope coming out of the World Cup break was that most of the players would have gotten some rest, except for those who made deep runs in the tournament with their national teams, and come back refreshed. That does not appear to be the case though.

David Alaba and Aurelien Tchouameni, two key starters in Carlo Ancelotti’s side, both picked up injuries recently, which are expected to keep them out of action for around three weeks. And now, it looks like Lucas Vazquez is going to be out for even longer.

As tweeted out by Jorge C. Picon, Vazquez will be out for around a month and a half. So, he looks set to miss the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Liverpool.

Vazquez was injured in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Valencia, a game that Real Madrid won on penalties, after it ended 1-1 over 120 minutes.

It is safe to say that Vazquez’s injury is another blow for Real Madrid. The club do not have a lot of depth in the first place.

Yes, Vazquez might not be a started for the club, but he is still the main cover option for Dani Carvajal at right-back and a reliable option at that.

The biggest worry for Real Madrid is the fact that they have looked completely sluggish in their performances since the return from the World Cup break. And if this continues, it is hard to see them seriously compete for any silverware this season.

The fact that one after another of their players are going down with injuries is not going to make matters any easier for Los Blancos.
