Real Madrid will take on Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Super Cup in Riyadh. It will be very interesting to see how this match goes, especially considering both teams have seemed sluggish and out of form in recent times, and needed penalties in order to make it past the semi-finals.

Real Madrid can take some confidence from the fact that they won the first El Clasico of the season against Barcelona by a comfortable 3-1 scoreline at Santiago Bernabeu. At the same time though, one cannot ignore the fact that at that point of time, Carlo Ancelotti’s side were looking absolutely unstoppable. The picture is very different now.

Barcelona lead the La Liga title race by three points but their own form has been questionable in recent times as well. And they have been handed a fitness worry heading into the final against Real Madrid.

As reported by MARCA, Ronald Araujo did not do at least the first part of the last training session before the Spanish Super Cup final with the rest of his Barcelona teammates. He worked on the sidelines.

Araujo’s situation is not thought to be anything serious and a matter of managing his load. The chances are that he will be starting the game vs Real Madrid. But at the same time, one has to question his fitness levels.

The Uruguayan has already struggled with injury this season. And he is definitely one of the most important parts of this Barcelona team.

On the other hand, Real Madrid have had their fair share of injuries this season as well. While Lucas Vazquez’s injury suffered against Valencia is serious and will lead him to miss a month-and-a-half of action, the good news is that the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde and Eder Militao seem to have recovered and are expected to feature in the final.
