Real Madrid fans must be delighted with the manner in which the club turned the game around against Villarreal. They had fallen 2-0 down in the first half itself and considering their recent form, it looked like they were destined to be knocked out from the Copa del Rey. Carlo Ancelotti’s side turned it around in the second half though, thanks to goals from Vinicius Jr, Eder Militao and Dani Ceballos.

Ancelotti deserves a lot of credit as well, as it was his substitutions that changed the direction of the game in the second half. One of the moves that the Italian manager made was bringing off Rodrygo.

Rodrygo did not seem too happy to come off though. And Ancelotti was seen pointing a finger towards him, and telling the Brazilian winger something, while he sat on the bench after being subbed off.

Ancelotti has now shed some light on what was said during that interaction. As reported by AS, he said:

"“I told him not to forget to say hello when he leaves.”"

Thus, it looks like the situation might have been a lot less serious than some Real Madrid fans might have feared.

At the end of the day, one also has to remember that football is a results-based game. On the day, Real Madrid got themselves a comeback win and as a result, things surrounding the club are going to be positive.

If they had ended up losing against Villarreal, then a lot more might have been made of the interaction between Ancelotti and Rodrygo after the substitution.

After a difficult run of form and results, one can only hope that this comeback win will act as the much-needed boost for Real Madrid’s season and help them get back on track moving forward.

Things don’t get any easier for Ancelotti’s men as they travel to San Mames to take on Athletic Bilbao next, in a very important game in the La Liga title race.
