While the performance might have left a lot of questions unanswered, it is safe to say that Real Madrid must be delighted with their 3-2 win over Villarreal. What made it even more important is the circumstances surrounding the club at the moment. They have several key players out injured right now, were coming off of a Spanish Super Cup final defeat at the hands of Barcelona and have been on a poor run of form after the World Cup break.

So, when Villarreal went 2-0 up before half-time, it had looked like it was as good as over for Real Madrid, and they were on their way out of the Copa del Rey once again.

But, the players showed immense character to turn it around in the second half. Vinicius Jr, Eder Militao and Dani Ceballos scored to turn the match around on its head and Real Madrid walked out with a 3-2 victory and their place booked in the last 8 of the Copa del Rey.

It is safe to say that it was all smiles at the training ground after that result, and there was a familiar face to greet them as well.

Real Madrid legend visits training after win vs Villarreal

As reported by Tribuna, Marcelo visited Real Madrid during their recovery training on Friday after they had defeated Villarreal.

The club posted a video on Twitter of Marcelo meeting Carlo Ancelotti:

Marcelo is a bona fide legend and only left the club in the summer, after a historic run at Santiago Bernabeu.

He currently plays for Olympiacos, but has faced his fitness struggles since joining the Greek club. It remains to be seen if the Brazilian can turn things around there.

He is definitely in the twilight of his career though and if he does try his hand at coaching after hanging up his boots, it would not be a surprise to see him back at Real Madrid’s training ground again.
