Thomas Tuchel could very well be the best manager in the world right now. That might be a big claim to make about someone who finds himself without a club at the moment, and yet, the events at Chelsea since his departure might have only proven that. And could a move to Real Madrid lie in the German tactician’s future?

During his first season-and-a-half at Chelsea, Tuchel guided the team to the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup, while finishing in the Premier League top four in back-to-back campaigns. During that period of time, the Blues reached the final in five out of the six cup competitions that they played in under his management.

Since his exit, we have seen how badly Chelsea have struggled, as they currently find themselves sitting at 10th in the Premier League table, as well as out of both the League Cup and the FA Cup. Thus, it is pretty clear that they were overperforming under the management of Tuchel.

On the other hand, with Real Madrid struggling and questions being raised about the long-term future of Carlo Ancelotti at Santiago Bernabeu, could a move for Tuchel make sense for Los Blancos? It does seem like the German manager would be interested.

As tweeted out by Florian Plettenberg, Tuchel has two big aims as a next step: Barcelona and Real Madrid. Juventus is also interesting for him but not now. He is still learning Spanish.

Tactically, Tuchel is very possibly the best in the world. During his time at Chelsea, he outfoxed the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Antonio Conte, on more than one occasion. His side even got the better of Real Madrid on their way to winning the Champions League in 2021 and almost pulled off a remontada at the Santiago Bernabeu last season.

Tuchel is without doubt a very special manager and if Real Madrid end up showing Ancelotti the exit door any time in the near future, the German maestro needs to be at the top of their wishlist as his replacement.
