Real Madrid have depth issues in several positions across the pitch right now. We have seen that take its toll on the players as well, as a number of them have seen exhausted and sluggish following the World Cup break. One can only hope that things will improve after the boost that was the comeback 3-2 win over Villarreal in the Copa del Rey.

It is safe to say that Real Madrid need to make multiple additions next summer in order to strengthen the squad, even if they don’t end up signing anyone in the January transfer window.

One position that needs reinforcements is left-back. Ferland Mendy’s performances this season have come under heavy criticism. There is no real cover for the Frenchman in the current squad though, with David Alaba filling in for him despite being the starting centre-back himself.

Real Madrid have recently been linked with a move for Fran Garcia. The Spaniard came through the youth ranks at the club, but only made a single senior appearance for Los Blancos before moving to Rayo Vallecano, where he has found a lot more success and is one of the most highly-rated left-backs in La Liga right now.

Former Real Madrid player confirms he is interested in a return someday

It looks like the player would be interested in a return to Real Madrid someday even though he is completely focused on Rayo Vallecano right now. As reported by Marca, Garcia said:

"“I’ve always said it… Real Madrid has been my dream since I was little and I’m working to try to come back later having been in the youth academy . But right now, I only think about Rayo Vallecano and continuing to work and learning from a great coach like Andoni Iraola.”"

Garcia is a nailed on starter for Rayo Vallecano at the moment. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 19 appearances and played 1594 minutes of football this season till now.

Now, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid make a move for Garcia in the future or not. They have been linked with other left-backs recently as well, including Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez.
