Real Madrid have extensive injury problems right now. They have players like David Alaba, Aurelien Tchouameni, Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez out of action already. And there are several others who have had their issues throughout the season. Their squad depth is not great to say the least, and we are seeing it get stretched as the campaign progresses.
A number of players have looked sluggish and exhausted in their recent performances, which is to be expected when they have to play twice almost every week, plus all the travel that comes with it.
Things do not seem to be getting any easier for Real Madrid either, as it looks like Eden Hazard has picked up another injury. The Belgian has not been included in the squad to face Athletic Bilbao at San Mames.
And as tweeted out by Guillermo Rai, Hazard is not part of the squad because he twisted his ankle in training.

It is safe to say that Hazard has not played much regular football this season and does not seem to be a big part of Ancelotti’s plans as things stand.
At the same time though, he is a decent option to have around, and someone who can be brought off the bench when the situation is right.
Fortunately, it does not sound like a major injury issue for Hazard but we will have to wait for further updates on the situation.
The Belgian has definitely had a very tough time since joining Real Madrid. One of the best players in the world with Chelsea, there were high expectations when he was signed in a club record deal but he has not been able to deliver on any of them, struggling with one injury after another. And he is expected to leave next summer.
