Real Madrid finally find themselves on the back of a good run of results. They mounted a comeback from being 2-0 down to defeat Villarreal by a 3-2 scoreline in the Copa del Rey Round of 16, before getting a much needed 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao away at San Mames in La Liga competition. While their performances might not have been the best, Los Blancos will surely be happy to get some wins in the bag after struggling for them in recent weeks.

Things don’t get any easier for Carlo Ancelotti’s side though and their next game is the ‘small’ matter of a Copa del Rey quarter-final against Atletico Madrid.

It is safe to say that things could get difficult for Real Madrid once again, but at least this time around, they have home advantage. And there could be some good news on the injury front as well.

As reported by MARCA, Real Madrid could recover David Alaba in time for the game against Atletico Madrid.

While nothing is certain yet, it does look like Alaba is close to recovering from his injury and could potentially be fit enough to feature against Atletico Madrid.

That would be a major boost for Real Madrid, especially with how badly their defence has seemed to struggle in recent times.

The game against Athletic Bilbao was a breath of fresh air though, as they were successful in keeping a clean sheet and the defenders did seem to raise their performance levels on the day.

Even then, Alaba returning would be a big boost for Ancelotti’s side. On his day, the Austrian is Real Madrid’s best defender, and they simply don’t look like the same team without him.

But in case, he is not ready in time for the game vs Atletico Madrid, Los Blancos should take confidence from their defensive performance against Athletic Bilbao.
