Several highly-rated players have been linked with Real Madrid in recent times. The problem is, the club have decided to not make moves in the ongoing January transfer window, and that has allowed other teams to swoop in and get deals done for those who might have been on Los Blancos’ radar.
One player that Real Madrid have been linked with in recent times is Pedro Porro of Sporting CP, who has been one of the most prolific right-backs in the game this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 3 goals and provided 11 assists in 25 appearances in this campaign till now.
Thus, it is not hard to understand why Real Madrid might hold an interest in Porro, considering their own problems at right-back. Dani Carvajal is 31 years of age and has struggled with both form and fitness this season. Lucas Vazquez and Nacho Fernandez do not seem to be a long-term solutions either.
Thus, someone with the abilities of Porro could be perfect for Real Madrid. While there are question marks over the defensive side of the Spaniard’s game, he might very well be the best right-back in the world going forward. But it looks like he might be headed to England this January itself.
Real Madrid target has agreed terms with Tottenham Hotspur
As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, personal terms between Porro and Tottenham Hotspur were agreed weeks ago.
Now, it comes down to Tottenham Hotspur and Sporting CP agreeing a deal for the right-back and there have been some very positive noises regarding that situation in the past few days as well.
Thus, unless something unexpected happens, there is a good chance that Porro could end up at Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer window slams shut. Of course, that is not good news for Real Madrid.
