Real Madrid were expected to have one of the best defences in world football this season after the club signed Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer in the summer. The German centre-back had been one of the best in the world in the position over his last 18 months at Stamford Bridge under the management of Thomas Tuchel. On the other hand, Los Blancos already had a Champions League-winning duo in Eder Militao and David Alaba.

Unfortunately, Rudiger has not been able to replicate his world-class form in a Real Madrid shirt. There have been decent performances here and there, but overall, he has been extremely disappointing till now.

On the other hand, the other defenders around him have not covered themselves in glory either and this looks like Real Madrid’s weakest defence in years.

They have conceded 16 goals in 17 La Liga games this season. For comparison, Barcelona have only seen the ball hit the back of their net 6 times in 18 matches. Thus, it is no surprise that the Catalan giants are the ones leading the title race right now, while Real Madrid are already being linked with future moves for defenders.

One of the players that Real Madrid had been linked with in recent times is Milan Skriniar. It made all the sense in the world too.

Skriniar has been one of the best centre-backs in Serie A for years now. His current deal with Inter Milan runs out at the end of this season though. But there is some bad news for Real Madrid in this regard.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Skriniar has already signed as a Paris Saint-Germain player. It’s 100% done for June 2023 on a free transfer.

It looks like the French champions are trying to bring him in in January itself, if they can reach an agreement with Inter Milan, but if not, he will be a PSG player next summer.
