Real Madrid have struggled with a long list of injuries this season and the team deserve a lot of credit for staying competitive in all competitions despite their issues. One can only hope that things get better from here on forward, because right now, the options are looking very thin for Carlo Ancelotti.

An area that has been particularly affected is full-back. Real Madrid are not the strongest there in the first place, and both their first-choice and second-choice full-backs have picked up injuries, at both left-back and right-back.

Thus, it goes without saying that the situation is far from ideal and Ancelotti is having to find players who are capable of plugging the holes in those positions. But now, there appears to be some good news for the club.

As tweeted out by Guillermo Rai, Dani Carvajal trained in the last session before the Real Sociedad game.

Carvajal returning to training is a boost for Real Madrid for sure. He is the club’s first-choice right-back at the moment, even though some questions have been raised about his performances in recent times.

While the Spaniard might be back in training, he does not seem to be fit enough to feature yet though, as he has not been named in Real Madrid’s squad that will take on Real Sociedad at the weekend.

Of course, that leaves the club with very few options at the back. Expect two of Nacho Fernandez, Alvaro Odriozola and Eduardo Camavinga to cover the full-back positions, while it seems likely that the partnership of Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao will start in the heart of defence.

The match against Real Sociedad is expected to be a tough one and if the opposition wins, they will go level on points with Real Madrid, albeit having played a game more.
