Real Madrid need to strengthen in several positions. One of them is certainly striker. Karim Benzema has rediscovered his form in recent weeks, but one cannot overlook the fact that he has been dealing with fitness issues for a while and is also 35 years of age. There is no real back up option at Santiago Bernabeu to the Ballon d’Or holder though.
Mariano Diaz is the only other recognised centre-forward in the squad and it is safe to say that he does not feature much, and is expected to leave at the end of the campaign. Rodrygo has often played in a false nine role, but that is not his natural position.
Thus, signing another striker next summer would be the right step for Real Madrid, especially if or when Diaz departs. And it looks like the club have plans in place.

Such a move would be very similar to signings like ‘Chicharito’ Javier Hernandez and Emmanuel Adebayor in the past.
Of course, this also does point to a potential blockbuster striker signing in the summer of 2024. Most fans would surely love to see someone like Erling Haaland in a Real Madrid jersey. Let’s see what the future holds. For the rest of the campaign though, Los Blancos are set to continue with Benzema and Mariano.
