Real Madrid have faced a number of obstacles in recent times and their downturn in form should not come as a surprise to anyone. For a long time, questions have been raised about the team’s squad depth, and yet, the club chose not to make any additions in the recent January transfer window.

On the other hand, Real Madrid have continued to struggle with one injury problem after another. Even in the last match vs Valencia, Eder Militao and Karim Benzema were both forced off the pitch. It has become a familiar sight for the fans by now and rarely has Carlo Ancelotti had a full-strength squad to pick his starting XI from.

The situation could have been much worse for Real Madrid, if not for the recent and unexpected rise of Dani Ceballos.

The Spaniard has proven to be a shining light in the middle of the park for Los Blancos, when all-time greats like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric have struggled for form. And it looks like he is set to be rewarded for his performances in recent weeks.

Real Madrid star set to agree new four-year contract

As reported by El Debate, the sports management of Real Madrid will offer Ceballos a contract for four years. He has not put any economic obstacles. And thus, it is expected to be sealed soon.

It goes without saying that that is great news for Real Madrid, as Ceballos is one of their most important players at the moment.

That is a remarkable turnaround for the midfielder to say the least. Even a few weeks back, he was expected to leave, when his contract ran out at the end of the season.

He has gone on an incredible run of form since that Copa del Rey game against Villarreal, in which he came off the bench to assist and score, in order to help Real Madrid come from two goals behind to get a 3-2 win over the Yellow Submarine.

The Santiago Bernabeu crowd chanted his name in the game against Valencia. And it looks like he is here to stay.
