Real Madrid have a number of players whose contracts run out at the end of the season. Unsurprisingly, there is interest from other clubs in these players, and they are now open to discussing outside offers as well, as they have less than six months left on their current deals with Los Blancos.
Of course, the Premier League would be an attractive destination for most players. No other league in the world can compete financially with them, and we saw proof of that in the recent January transfer window.
While Real Madrid did not sign a single player, despite their squad struggling with injuries and a lack of form, Chelsea went on to add the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, on loan from Atletico Madrid, and several others to their ranks.
That does not mean that every player wants to go to the Premier League. Dani Ceballos falls under that category.
Real Madrid player refused to join Unai Emery’s Aston Villa
As reported by MARCA, Ceballos is clear that returning to the Premier League is not what he wants. Hence he refused an approach from Emery’s Aston Villa.
Ceballos has been in the Premier League in the past, as he spent a couple of seasons on loan at Arsenal. It was a decent time but the Spaniard was not able to establish himself as a star.
Until recently, it was looking like his time at Real Madrid was set to come to an end in the summer and the club were ready to let him leave as a free agent. But he has turned his career around over the past several weeks and now is one of the first names in Carlo Ancelotti’s teamsheet. It is also expected that Ceballos will put pen to paper on an extension soon.
