Real Madrid need to bring in reinforcements all over the pitch in the near future. And that includes arguably their strongest area, the midfield. Luka Modric is 37 years of age and in the twilight of his playing career. There are question marks over the future of Toni Kroos as well, as there have been suggestions that he could hang up his boots at the end of this season.
We have seen both of them struggle for their best after the World Cup break as well. Fortunately, the likes of Dani Ceballos and Eduardo Camavinga have stepped up in a moment of need. But it is clear that Real Madrid might need to freshen up their midfield in the near future.
The club have been linked with Jude Bellingham, but the race for him is going to be tough. On the other hand, Enzo Fernandez was believed to be their Plan B, but he has already joined Chelsea. Thus, Real Madrid need to keep their eyes open for alternatives. And they might have a very good one currently playing for Lazio.
As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is clear about his next destination and is pushing to join Real Madrid, if he leaves Lazio in the summer transfer window.
€60 million midfielder is pushing to join Real Madrid
Sergej has been considered as one of the best midfielders in the Serie A for a very long time, but he has not gotten his big move away till now, despite being linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs for a long time.
He is still just 27 years of age though and pretty much in the middle of his prime, despite having already made more than 300 appearances for Lazio.
His current deal with Lazio is believed to run out in the summer of 2024 though, and thus, he could be on the move soon. It could take a transfer fee close to €60 million to sign him.
