There are clouds of doubt over the future of Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid. It was just last season that he had guided the club to a Champions League and La Liga double. Things change very quickly in football though, especially at places like Santiago Bernabeu, where you are always expected to win. And with Los Blancos struggling badly after the World Cup break, questions have been raised about the Italian manager.

The club lost the Spanish Super Cup final to Barcelona in a match that was completely one-sided. And they have fallen eight points behind the Catalan giants in the La Liga title race as well.

Interestingly, while Ancelotti’s future at Santiago Bernabeu might be in doubt, there is no lack of interest in his signature. The Italian has done everything in his career, except for manage an international team. And that opportunity might be there, if he leaves Real Madrid.

As reported by ge.globo, Brazilian Football Confederation President Ednaldo Rodrigues plans a meeting in February with the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, to formalize a proposal for Ancelotti. They are willing to wait until June for the Italian manager.

There have been some rumours that Ancelotti might be open to the idea of taking the Brazil job after this season. It remains to be seen how accurate they are.

On the other hand, it is not hard to see why he might be wanted by the Brazilian Football Confederation. Ancelotti has gotten the best out of players like Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Eder Militao, and also Casemiro, who left for Manchester United in the summer.

A few months ago, it would have been unthinkable to even consider letting Ancelotti go. But after how things have transpired since then, Real Madrid might be more open to the idea.
