Real Madrid need to bring in reinforcements in the near future. The squad depth is too thin at the moment, and on top of that, there are several players who are not making much of an impact at this point of time. While the club decided to make no additions in January, the upcoming summer transfer window is expected to be a very different story.

Real Madrid have been linked with several high profile names in recent times. Some of them like Jude Bellingham, Josko Gvardiol and Dusan Vlahovic, could have a positive impact on the team. On the other hand, there are some others, who the club should not make a move for. Kingsley Coman might be in that category.

There is no doubt that Coman is a good player, and he even has a Champions League winner to his name. But it just does not feel like the Frenchman would make enough of a difference for this Real Madrid side, especially when you consider the transfer fee that it would take to bring him in from Bayern Munich.

It could take a figure close to €60 million to sign Coman from Bayern Munich. That figure could potentially be even higher when you consider the fact that his current deal runs until the summer of 2027. But there are serious doubts about whether he would even be a starter at Real Madrid. Is he better than Vinicius Junior or Rodrygo?

Coman has won a lot during the course of his career, but it just feels like he has never taken that next step. He is a perfectly good winger, but not in that world-class bracket.

The highest number of goals that he has ever scored in a Bundesliga season is 6. The highest number of assists that he has provided in a single league campaign is a much more impressive 12, but that seems to be a bit of an anomaly. That came back in the 2020/21 campaign and his second highest in terms of assists is 6.

Of course, stats are not the be-all and end-all when judging a player, but then, considering the transfer fee it is expected to take to sign Coman, Real Madrid would expect an immediate impact. The Frenchman is also 26 years of age, meaning that he is in his prime or very close to entering it, and there is not a huge room for improvement unless something unexpected happens.
