The future of Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid seems to be up in the air at this point of time. The club had made a brilliant start to the campaign but have lost their path in recent months. As things stand, Los Blancos find themselves eight points behind Barcelona in the La Liga title race and lost the Spanish Super Cup final against Xavi’s side in convincing fashion.
They are in the Club World Cup final and winning the competition will surely be a boost, and come as some relief for Ancelotti. But at the same time, it is not one of the main objectives of the season.
Fans have already started speculating on who the club’s next manager could be, in the event that Ancelotti is shown the exit door in the near future. Names like Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino have unsurprisingly done the rounds.
But it looks like club legend, Raul Gonzalez, who is a manager at Castilla right now, could also be in the running to be the next Real Madrid manager.
Real Madrid legend viewed as potential next manager
As reported by Relevo, at Real Madrid, they already see Raul as capable of coaching the first team. When the time comes for Ancelotti’s replacement, he will be a candidate.
Raul has done a great job at Castilla and that has drawn interest from abroad as well. Rumours suggested that he recently turned down the chance to be the manager of Leeds United.
Of course, it would always be a risk to hand the Real Madrid job to a manager with no experience of coaching at the top level. But then at the same time, it can bring about spectacular results, as we saw in the recent past with Zinedine Zidane.
Will Raul be the next Real Madrid manager? Only time shall tell. But right now, the fans must get behind Ancelotti and hope that he is able to turn the season around, and guide Los Blancos to success. Just like last year, when they won the Champions League and La Liga double against all expectations.
