Real Madrid need to strengthen their team in several positions in the near future. One of them is right-back. Dani Carvajal has done a tremendous job in that role over the years and is a club legend. But now 31 years of age, plenty of questions have been raised about his form and fitness in recent times.

Lucas Vazquez is the cover option for Carvajal at right-back, but that is not his natural position and he is even older than Carvajal. On the other hand, Alvaro Odriozola has barely featured and is expected to leave at the end of the campaign, with the likes of Juventus and AS Roma being linked with the Spaniard.

Thus, Real Madrid might need to bring in a right-back soon. And one player that seems to have caught their eye is Diogo Dalot of Manchester United, whose current deal runs out in the summer of 2024.

As reported by AS, there would be two options for Real Madrid if Dalot’s contract situation remains unresolved. They could seek to sign him for a bargain fee in the summer, with just 12 months left on his deal at that point. Alternatively, Los Blancos could wait until 2024 to sign him as a free agent.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Dalot. One thing that is for certain though is that he has been one of Manchester United’s most important players this season.

The turnaround that he has made since the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is impressive. Dalot has established himself as a nailed on starter in Erik ten Hag’s team.

Thus, the Portuguese star could be a solid addition to this Real Madrid side. A lot depends on his contract situation at Manchester United though. If he does not extend then that would open the door to a move to Santiago Bernabeu.
