Real Madrid go into the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Liverpool at Anfield, with the status of Karim Benzema uncertain. Unfortunately, that has been a familiar story this season, with the Frenchman struggling with a number of issues over the course of the campaign. On the other hand, the club have no real back up in the number 9 role.

Mariano Diaz is the only other recognised centre-forward in the squad and he has barely featured in recent times. Alvaro impressed against Osasuna as a late substitute, but it might be too early to rely on him to deliver the goods consistently.

Thus, signing another striker in the summer transfer window might not be a bad idea for Real Madrid. And it seems that they are keeping an eye on the situation of Dusan Vlahovic.

As reported by AS, Real Madrid remains attentive to the situation of Vlahovic. Juventus negotiated his transfer to a top team in the Premier League in the last winter market. They asked for a transfer fee between €100 million and €120 million, but the player’s agent stopped the operation.

Real Madrid eyeing potential move for €120 million striker

Vlahovic arrived at Juventus a little over a year ago from Fiorentina for a transfer fee believed to be around €75 million. He has done a decent enough job since then.

But at the moment, Juventus just do not feel like the right fit for the striker. They are playing a defence-first style of football under the management of Massimiliano Allegri. And the club are going through a tough time both on and off the pitch.

Thus, if they end up missing qualifying for the Champions League, which looks likely after their 15 point deduction, then they might need to let go of a few players next summer. And someone like Vlahovic would be a solid addition for Real Madrid. But only if the transfer fee suits them.
