Real Madrid have a few decisions to make moving forward regarding their squad. On one hand, it is clear that they need to bring in reinforcements in several positions across the pitch. The squad depth simply is not there to keep performing at the top level throughout the season. On the other hand, there are a number of players whose current deals are running out in the summer and who could depart the club as free agents if they do not agree new deals.

One player whose current situation is very interesting is Marco Asensio. He had looked destined to leave when he was being left on the bench early on in the campaign but the Spaniard has certainly played his way into Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

He has scored three goals over the last four La Liga games. And according to stats from Transfermarkt, Asensio has scored 6 goals and provided 5 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions this season.

It is worth remembering that most of his appearances have come off the bench. And as reported by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are tracking Asensio ahead of the summer transfer window.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Asensio. There seems to be an interest from both parties to continue on at Santiago Bernabeu. But at the same time, no contract extension has been agreed yet.

The best case scenario for Real Madrid would be Asensio staying. It is difficult to find a player of his profile, who is already proven in La Liga and can make an impact off the bench.

But there seems to be no lack of interest in Asensio’s signature. And there are plenty of teams where he could not only get higher wages but a bigger role in the team as well.
