Real Madrid have been linked with a number of players in recent times, as it is believed that they are gearing up for a big summer transfer window. There are a number of positions across the pitch where they could do with reinforcements. One of them is certainly right-back, an area where they have seemed weak in recent times.

Dani Carvajal is a club legend but has faced his struggles with both injuries and form in recent times. Lucas Vazquez and Alvaro Odriozola do not seem to be long-term solutions, and neither does Nacho Fernandez, who is 33 years of age now.

Thus, Real Madrid might need to add another right-back in the near future. And one player that they have been linked with in recent times is Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot, who is enjoying a great campaign under the management of Erik ten Hag.

There seems to be some bad news for Real Madrid in that regard though. As reported by Football Insider, Manchester United are confident of securing Dalot to a new deal. Sources with knowledge of the situation have revealed that contract talks are progressing well and a breakthrough is close.

It would make sense for Dalot to remain at Manchester United rather than make a move elsewhere. He is a nailed on starter there. And the Red Devils seem to be on the rise again, following the arrival of Ten Hag.

It is impressive how Dalot has turned his career around. During the time of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager, he barely featured and was even sent out on loan. But now, he is one of the first names on the team sheet.

Someone like Dalot would have been a solid addition for Real Madrid. Not only is he a top right-back but just 23 years of age as well. But it looks like he will remain at Old Trafford.
