Sergio Ramos is a Real Madrid icon. Whether it be his legendary injury time goal against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final, which eventually led to La Decima. Or his duels against Lionel Messi in El Clasico. The Spaniard has left a mark on the club’s history that will live on forever.

It came as a bit of a surprise though, when he left in the summer of 2021 to join Paris Saint-Germain. It is safe to say that Ramos did not have a good start in the French capital.

The former Real Madrid captain was struggling badly with form for quite a while and some rumours even suggested that PSG were considering parting ways with him. That did not happen and since then, he has established himself as a starter for the club.

In many ways, that has been the story of Ramos’ career. Proving the doubters wrong. But it looks like he had doubts himself, about whether he had made the right choice.

Ramos has admitted that there were doubts though, about whether he had made the right decision or not, when leaving Real Madrid. As reported by AS, the Spanish defender said:

"“Obviously, leaving Real Madrid was a very big change. My goal is always to keep winning. I won a lot with Real Madrid, but I thought it was a good opportunity to change scenery. Everything was very difficult at first. You have to find a home and settle down, especially when you come with a family, with four children. The process was a bit difficult at first, but everything went well.”"

Ramos further went on to add:

"“At the beginning, having made that leap, everything went wrong. I got injured, I had a hard time recovering and adapting to the new system, the new team and the new coach. You begin to doubt whether you have done the right thing or not.”"

Unsurprisingly, Ramos has proven the critics wrong once again and established himself as a key player for PSG this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 32 appearances this season, scoring twice and assisting once, while playing 2528 minutes of football in total.

Ramos will turn 37 years of age next month, and it is quite clear that he is in the twilight of his career at this point of time. But it is great to see that he is still going strong. Hopefully, he will hang up his boots while playing at the top level.
