Real Madrid have a number of players in their ranks right now, whose long-term futures at Santiago Bernabeu are uncertain. Last summer, we saw the likes of Isco, Marcelo, Gareth Bale and Casemiro depart the club. Could we see a few more long-term players head out of the Spanish capital at the end of this campaign? Time shall tell, but there are few contracts on the verge of expiring.
One such player whose current deal is running out is Marco Asensio. And it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him at Santiago Bernabeu.
Early on in the season, it was looking like Asensio leaving was inevitable, as he was barely featuring in Carlo Ancelotti’s side. He has played his way into the team since then though and is a regular contributor right now, even if mostly off the bench. That has drawn the interest of some of the biggest clubs from England.
As reported by Football Insider, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all competing for Asensio’s signature in the summer. They have been in contact with intermediaries regarding a potential deal.
Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in contact to sign Real Madrid star
It is safe to say that Asensio is a key player for Real Madrid right now, even though he might not be a regular starter for them. Thus, the best case scenario would be him staying in the Spanish capital.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Asensio has scored 6 goals and provided 5 assists in 30 appearances for Real Madrid this season.
The Spaniard is also a man in form. He has scored in 3 of his last 4 appearances in La Liga. Thus, it is not hard to see why there is so much interest in his signature, especially since he might be available on a free transfer.
