Real Madrid have built up quite the reputation when it comes to signing players from Brazil and turning them into first-team stars at Santiago Bernabeu. The two prime examples are Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. They arrived in the Spanish capital as teenagers and both are key parts in Carlo Ancelotti’s team right now.
On the other hand, the club also have Vinicius Tobias at Castilla, on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk. And Real Madrid have also agreed a €60 million deal to bring in Endrick from Palmeiras, in 2024.
Now, it looks like the club have their eyes on another Brazilian wonderkid, as they continued building the squad with an eye on the long-term future. The youngster in question is none other than Flamengo midfielder, Matheus Franca.
As reported by Lance, Lyon and Real Madrid are two of the other European clubs who closely watch Franca’s development at Flamengo.
Real Madrid have an eye on Brazilian wonderkid with huge release clause
Franca is just 18 years of age and he has made a promising start to life in the senior level for Flamengo. So much so that Newcastle United have already had transfer bids rejected for the Brazilian wonderkid’s signature and now, he has agreed a new deal with his current club.
As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Flamengo have reached an agreement to extend Franca’s contract after €20 million bid, add-ons included, was received from Newcastle United and rejected. The new release clause will be €200 million.
It is safe to say that that is an extraordinary figure and unless something almost impossible happens, there is almost no chance of any club matching that. What it does though is give Flamengo a lot of room to negotiate when it comes to the transfer of Franca in the future. Will Real Madrid end up making a move? Time shall tell.
