Real Madrid and Chelsea have enjoyed a bit of a rivalry both on and off the pitch in recent years. Of course, they met in the Champions League knockout stages in both of the previous two campaigns. The Blues came out on top the first time around, while Los Blancos won last season in an absolute thriller of a tie.
On the other hand, they have competed in the transfer market over players as well. Chelsea were also believed to be interested in Endrick, before Real Madrid agreed a deal. Both are believed to be keeping an eye on Jude Bellingham. And the Blues signed Enzo Fernandez in January, who was rumoured to be Los Blancos’ plan B if they fail to sign the Borussia Dortmund midfielder next summer.
Now, it looks like Real Madrid have set their sights on one of Chelsea’s current stars, who could be available in the summer, as he has struggled for both form and fitness in recent times.
As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Christian Pulisic has popped up on the radar of Real Madrid. Los Blancos are keen on signing a wide attacker in the summer and they have set their sights on the struggling Chelsea player.
Real Madrid consider summer move for struggling Chelsea player
Pulisic arrived at Chelsea with high expectations from Borussia Dortmund. He was one of the most highly rated young players in the world at that point of time.
For a while, it had looked like he was set to meet those expectations as well. In the second half of his debut campaign with Chelsea, he was one of the best wingers in the Premier League.
Since then, things have not quite gone his way though. He has shown flashes of brilliance here and there, including some superb performances in Chelsea’s run to their Champions League triumph in the 2020/21 campaign. But overall, he has struggled with both form and fitness.
Thus, it looks like Pulisic is set to be available for transfer next summer. Should Real Madrid make a move?
