Arsenal have already taken one underperforming player from Real Madrid and turned him world-class, in Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian midfielder never managed to provide a goal or an assist in the Royal White jersey, but he has been absolutely superb for Mikel Arteta’s side in recent times, is already their captain and is one of the key reasons behind them leading the Premier League table against all odds and expectations.

Thus, it should come as no surprise that Arsenal have been linked with more Real Madrid players. And one who seems to have been on their radar for a while now is Marco Asensio.

Asensio has had an up-and-down campaign to say the least. There have been occasions when he has done a great job, like scoring in 3 of his previous 5 La Liga appearances. But at the same time, there have been times when he has disappointed massively, like his recent performance against Atletico Madrid.

Thus, the future of Asensio at Real Madrid is still up in the air. He is clearly not a regular starter, but someone who definitely has a role in the team. On the other hand, Arsenal have been urged to make a move for the Spaniard.

As reported by Football Insider, Gabriel Agbonlahor said:

"“It’s exactly the sort of signing they need.“Asensio isn’t playing as much as he’d like right now.“But he’s done so many good things for a long time at Real Madrid. He gets into tight spaces, he’s a flair player.“They are the characteristics that Arsenal will be searching for this summer.“And you look at their bench sometimes and just feel like they could do with a few extra top-quality signings.“For me, he’s perfect. If Arsenal want to stay in that title fight every year, they’ve got to add to this squad.”"

There does not seem to be any lack of interest in the signature of Asensio despite the fact that he has not been a regular starter for Real Madrid. The likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with him lately.

It is also believed that Real Madrid want to hand him a new deal. But it feels like he could get more playing time at other clubs. Thus, it might all come down to Asensio and what he wants to do next.
