Real Madrid have struggled with injury problems throughout the course of this season and it is actually impressive that they are still competing in all three major competitions, considering the hurdles that they have had to face. Now, it remains to be seen if they can close out the campaign well and bring home some silverware.

One of their best chances to do so would be getting past Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semis. Xavi’s side have struggled in recent weeks, losing two on the trot to Manchester United and Almeria, and winning just one out of their previous four games across all competitions.

Also, they are expected to miss three key players in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semis, in the form of Robert Lewandowski, Pedri and Ousmane Dembele. Thus, the game might have come at just the right time for Real Madrid. And they have been handed a fitness boost heading into it as well.

As reported by The Athletic, Rodrygo has returned to first-team training. He is in contention to be available for the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg against Barcelona.

Real Madrid star could return vs Barcelona in major injury boost

Rodrygo picked up an injury in Real Madrid’s 5-2 win over Liverpool at Anfield. The expectation was that he was going to be out for around 10 days.

But the Brazilian youngster is back in training already. As a result, if things go well, it is very possible that he could end up playing a part against Barcelona in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semis.

Rodrygo has been an important part of Real Madrid’s team this season, even if he has not always started. The Brazilian has the ability to make an impact from the start or off the bench. Thus, if he is available for selection, it would be great news for Carlo Ancelotti.
