Real Madrid have not had the best record in recent years, when it comes to bringing through their own youth stars and establishing them at the senior level. That is one of the big complaints that the fans have had this season as well, that youngsters have not been given enough of a chance even when those ahead of them in the pecking order have struggled to make an impact.

The club have a number of very talented youngsters like Alvaro, Sergio Arribas, Rafa Marin and others, who will hopefully get enough chances to show what they are capable of at the first-team level.

There are plenty of other such names as well. Amongst them is Iker Bravo, who is currently on loan from Bayer Leverkusen. He was brought in in the summer but has gone on to have an up and down campaign with Castilla till now. There does not seem to be any lack of outside interest in his signature despite that though.

As reported by Fichajes, Real Madrid has an option to buy in Bravo’s loan contract with Bayer Leverkusen of €6 million, but it is unknown whether the club would be willing to activate it. On the other hand, according to media in England, Liverpool and Newcastle United are interested in acquiring the services of the striker in the summer.

Bravo has had an interesting time at Real Madrid. He has been superb in the UEFA Youth League. But has failed to deliver in Spain for Castilla.

Thus, it remains to be seen what the club decide to do regarding Bravo’s future. He clearly has a lot of talent but at the same time, there are a lot of areas in need of improvement as well.

Still, he is just 18 years of age and time is on his side. If Real Madrid do not take up the option to sign him permanently, there will not be a lack of suitors for the youngster in the summer.
