For months, it had looked like Jude Bellingham was the top priority for Real Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window. It was not hard to understand why either. The English international is amongst the best midfielders on the planet at just 19 years of age. He has been one of the elite players in the Bundesliga for some time and was the standout for the Three Lions at the recent World Cup.
Of course, there is no lack of interest in a player of that quality. Other than Real Madrid, the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and PSG are also believed to be keeping an eye on the situation of Bellingham.
On the other hand, there have been suggestions that Borussia Dortmund want to hand him a new deal. And it could take a transfer fee around €150 million to convince the Bundesliga giants to part ways with their star midfielder.
As reported by Football Insider, Real Madrid have turned their attention towards Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. It is understood that Los Blancos have made the Brazilian international a top priority for the summer transfer window.
Real Madrid make Premier League star top priority for next summer
With the transfer fee that it is expected to take to sign Bellingham, it is very possible that Real Madrid view Guimaraes as an alternative who would be available for a much lower figure.
Guimaraes might not be as glamourous of a name as Bellingham, but he has done a tremendous job since arriving at Newcastle United as well. The Magpies are in the running to qualify for the Champions League and the Brazilian international is one of the biggest reasons behind that.
Can Real Madrid end up signing Guimaraes from Newcastle United next summer? Let’s see, only time shall tell.
