Most of the recent rumours surrounding Real Madrid have been about potential signings. But there are a number of players at the club, who are in the final year of their contracts and could be on their way out of Santiago Bernabeu in the summer. One player who falls under that category is Mariano Diaz, who has barely featured for Carlo Ancelotti’s side in recent times.

A great run of form at Lyon had convinced Real Madrid to bring back Mariano in the summer of 2018. Since then, things have not gone his way though and now, with his contract running out in the summer, him leaving the club seems like the best step for all parties involved.

Despite the fact that Mariano has not featured much for Real Madrid for some time now, there does not seem to be any lack of interest in his signature. In fact, three big name Italian clubs appear to be eyeing his signature.

As reported by Fichajes, Mariano is a target for Lazio, Atalanta and Torino in order to strengthen their respective forward lines.

Lazio, Atalanta and Torino are all interested in Real Madrid player

While Mariano might not have played much for Real Madrid, it is not hard to understand why so many clubs appear to be interested in his signature. And it is not just because of the fact that he is set to be available as a free agent.

Mariano did a wonderful job at Lyon as well and there is a player in there. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 21 goals and provided 6 assists in 45 appearances for the French club in the 2017/18 campaign.

Also, Mariano is still 29 years of age, meaning he is in the middle of his prime as a footballer. Thus, while things might not have worked out for him at Real Madrid, he could have a decent time at a different club.
