Real Madrid will need to strengthen all across the pitch next summer. If there is one thing that has become clear this season, it is that they do not have enough depth at the moment to compete in all three major competitions throughout the course of a long campaign. Injuries and fatigue have taken a huge toll on the players.
As a result, what had once looked set to be a historical campaign for the club, is now starting to fade away. Incredibly, the Champions League might be their best chance at landing some silverware from here on.
One of the areas that Real Madrid do need to strengthen in is midfield. The long-term futures of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Dani Ceballos are up in the air, while Fede Valverde has mostly been used on the right wing.
Real Madrid have been linked with a number of midfielders lately, like Jude Bellingham, Bruno Guimaraes and Gabri Veiga. But, a Belgian international seems to be in their sights as well.
Real Madrid consider signing Premier League star as free agent
As reported by Fichajes (via The Hard Tackle), Youri Tielemans is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Belgian will likely leave Leicester City as a free agent in the summer.
Tielemans has been with Leicester City since 2019 and has enjoyed some big moments with the Foxes, including scoring an FA Cup winner against Chelsea a few years back. His contract with the club runs out in the summer though and it is looking unlikely that he will extend his stay at the King Power Stadium.
Tielemans has plenty of experience at both club and international level, where he has made over 50 appearances for Belgium. Yet, he is still just 25 years of age. Thus, signing him as a free agent could be a very smart move on the part of Real Madrid.
