Chelsea have been signing players left, right and centre since their change in ownership. Over the past two transfer windows, they have brought in the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana, Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid, and several others. That is mind boggling. And it looks like the Blues have set their eyes on one of Real Madrid’s targets as well.
Real Madrid have not been very active in the transfer market in recent times. But next summer is expected to be a different story.
If rumours are to be believed then their top target is Jude Bellingham. It will be difficult to sign the Englishman though and thus, the club must have alternative targets. One such player is Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle United.
But as reported by The Telegraph, Chelsea inquired about signing Guimaraes in January. And they are likely to be back again in the summer.
Chelsea are interested in signing Real Madrid target
It was just in January of last year that Newcastle United ended up signing Guimaraes. But it is safe to say that his reputation has grown significantly since that time.
The Brazilian has been one of the best players in the Premier League over the past year or so, while Newcastle United have been one of the most consistent teams in the English top flight over that period of time. That is incredible considering the fact that they looked destined for relegation before the arrival of Eddie Howe as manager.
Interestingly though, Newcastle United have not been able to win a single game in which Guimaraes has not played this season. That goes on to show the importance of the Brazilian to this team and it is not surprising why the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid and others are showing interest.
