Real Madrid have been linked with a number of players in recent times, as it is clear that the squad is in need of a bit of a revamp. While some rumours have seemed like no brainers, there are others which have left fans scratching their heads. And the ones linking the club with Richarlison falls under the second category.

Now, Richarlison is a good player without doubt. You do not get to be the first choice striker for Brazil at a World Cup, if you are not.

But at the same time, one cannot overlook the fact that he has had a terrible time at Tottenham Hotspur since making a £60 million move in the summer. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Richarlison has scored 2 goals in 26 appearances this season.

He is yet to score for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. As a result, the rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid are confusing, except for the fact that Carlo Ancelotti used to manage him at Everton. But the Italian coach’s own future at Santiago Bernabeu is in doubt.

Real Madrid should not sign £60 million Brazilian star

It was just last summer that Tottenham Hotspur signed Richarlison for a £60 million transfer package. Thus, it feels unlikely that they would let him leave for a much lower figure just a year later.

On the other hand, if Real Madrid are signing a striker, they need to make sure that he comes with a guarantee of goals, considering Karim Benzema’s fitness issues lately. His goal record has never been spectacular anywhere. In fact, he might be at his best with the Brazilian national team.

Of course, one could make the argument that Richarlison has never played in a dominant team like Real Madrid. Tottenham Hotspur is the biggest club he has represented till now though, and his numbers have gone down rather than up since joining.
