Real Madrid do not have a lot of squad depth at this point of time. On top of that, they have a number of players in their ranks, whose futures at Santiago Bernabeu are uncertain. Their current deals are running out and they are yet to put pen on paper on extensions. Thus, Los Blancos have some big decisions to make over the coming months.
A number of these players still have important roles in Carlo Ancelotti’s team. Marco Asensio is someone who falls under that category.
At the start of the season, Asensio had looked completely out of the first-team picture. But he has managed to play his way back into the team. While he is not a nailed on starter, he has seen regular minutes for the most part. And his numbers are promising as well. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the Spaniard has scored 7 goals and provided 5 assists in 32 appearances and 1159 minutes of football.
Despite that, Asensio is yet to sign a contract extension with Real Madrid. And it looks like a move to Arsenal could interest him, if his time at Santiago Bernabeu does come to an end.
Real Madrid player interested in moving to Arsenal
As reported by Fichajes, Asensio would welcome joining the Arsenal project due to the attacking game proposal. And the fact that they have a project that has the conditions to establish themselves among the best teams in the world in the short term.
Arsenal were linked with Asensio in the summer as well. And some recent rumours have suggested that his entourage have held talks with the London club.
Asensio is proven in La Liga and can make a big impact off the bench. It would be difficult to replace a player with that profile. Thus, the best case scenario for Real Madrid would be him staying.
