Real Madrid have been linked with a lot of players in recent time, as it is quite clear that they need to strengthen their ranks in the summer and bring in reinforcements. Amongst all the names, it is Jude Bellingham who is believed to be their number one priority though. And it is not hard to understand why either.
At just 19 years of age, Bellingham might be the most in-demand talent in all of football. He has proven himself at Borussia Dortmund, at both Bundesliga and Champions League level, even captaining the team. Also, he was arguably England’s best player at the World Cup.
Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid are not the only club chasing the signature of Bellingham. The likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG are all believed to be interested as well.
Thus, signing Bellingham is not going to be simple for Real Madrid by any stretch of the imagination. But it looks like they have taken a big step in a positive direction.
Real Madrid take big step in Bellingham transfer race
As reported by AS, an emissary of Real Madrid has recently travelled to Germany to meet the midfielder and his family. It was done to strengthen ties and try to pave the way for a future signing.
Till now, it remains unclear what the future holds for Bellingham. Borussia Dortmund are not expected to let him go for a transfer fee lower than €150 million, especially after Enzo Fernandez completed a move to Chelsea in January.
On the other hand, there have been suggestions that Borussia Dortmund want to hand him a contract extension and keep him at the club beyond this season. Thus, it remains to be seen how things play out. But the general feeling is that Bellingham will be on the move in the summer.
