Real Madrid do not have a lot of depth in their squad right now. So, Carlo Ancelotti has had to rely on the same group of players for the most part. Even then, there are a few players who are struggling to break into the Italian manager’s plans and get regular minutes on the pitch. Eden Hazard certainly falls under that category.

Real Madrid shattered their transfer record to sign Hazard from Chelsea in 2019. The hope was that he would become the face of the team. The Belgian’s time at Santiago Bernabeu has been a nightmare though and almost four years later, he finds himself on the fringes of the team.

Hazard’s last appearance for the club came back in early January, against Cacereno in the Copa del Rey. On the other hand, his last appearance in La Liga was back in September. Thus, it would be safe to say that he is struggling to get into the team and then some. And it looks like the Belgian does not even speak to Ancelotti anymore these days.

As reported by talkSPORT, while speaking to RTBF, Hazard said:

"“There’s respect between Ancelotti and I.“But I’m not going to say that we talk to each other, because we don’t talk to each other. But there will always be respect.”"

At this point of time, there does not seem to be any chance of Hazard establishing himself in the playing XI for Real Madrid ever again. The time to do that might have simply passed.

He is not even getting appearances off the bench. It is very reminiscent of Gareth Bale’s last season at Real Madrid.

Yet, there is still a year left on Hazard’s contract after this season. And it looks like he might be looking to see it out, rather than look for a new club in the summer. Even if he stayed on, it is hard to see him get too many minutes on the pitch moving forward.
