Real Madrid have been linked with a long list of players in recent times. One area where they need to bring in reinforcements sooner or later is their midfield. The long-term futures of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are uncertain. Jude Bellingham is believed to be the priority target in the middle of the park but it is not going to be easy to sign him.
On one hand, it is believed that Borussia Dortmund would be looking for a transfer fee close to €150 million. On the other hand, the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG have all been linked with him.
As a result, the club must have alternative targets for Bellingham. And one player that they have been heavily linked with in recent times is Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga.
Veiga has arguable been the breakout star of La Liga this season. Thus, it is not hard to understand why clubs might be keeping an eye on him. And it looks like Real Madrid have taken a step in the positive direction.
Real Madrid have reportedly made contact for €40 million player
As reported by Cadena SER, Francisco Jose Delgado has said that Real Madrid have already contacted Veiga’s entourage to tell him not to take a step away from Celta Vigo without them being informed.
Veiga is just 20 years of age, but has been putting up big numbers for Celta Vigo, who find themselves in the middle of the La Liga table. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists in 28 appearances this season.
It is believed that there is a €40 million release clause in Veiga’s deal at Celta Vigo. Now, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid would make a move of that significance for him or try to come up with a different solution.
