It is no secret that Real Madrid need reinforcements all over the pitch. One of those areas is striker. Karim Benzema is still the main man for the club up top. But the current Ballon d’Or holder has had to deal with several injury problems this season and his form has not been as great as the previous campaign either.

On the other hand, Mariano Diaz has barely featured in recent times and looks set to leave in the summer, when his contract runs out. The club have Alvaro, but he is just 18 years of age and not at that stage of his career where he can be considered as the back-up striker for Real Madrid.

Thus, Real Madrid could do with another striker. And they are being linked with a shock move for a Chelsea player, who has struggled badly over the past couple of seasons.

As reported by Fichajes, Real Madrid seriously consider Romelu Lukaku’s signing to accompany Benzema up top.

Chelsea are believed to be looking to part ways with Lukaku. Thus, getting a deal done for him might not be complicated for Real Madrid. But at the same time, one has to wonder whether he would improve things.

A few years back, Lukaku was looking like one of the best strikers in the world, as he helped guide Inter Milan to the Serie A title. Since then, things have not gone his way though.

A return to Chelsea the following summer proved to be a failure. Inter Milan brought him back on loan this season, but he has failed to rediscover his old form there either. As a result, signing Lukaku at this point of time would come with a huge risk for any club in the world.
