Karim Benzema put in a disappointing performance as Real Madrid lost their third straight game against Barcelona this season. And it is becoming increasingly clear that the club need to add to their forward ranks in the summer, even if they end up handing the Frenchman a one-year contract extension.
Benzema has struggled with a number of fitness issues this season. Even now, there are rumours that he is playing with discomfort and is not 100 per cent fit. This has prevented the Ballon d’Or holder from building up any sort of sustainable form and momentum.
Thus, fans would be hoping that Real Madrid sign a proven number 9 in the summer. They have been linked with some big names like Dusan Vlahovic and Erling Haaland.
Another player who has been surprisingly linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu is Harry Kane. The Englishman is one of the best strikers on the planet and has been for several years. It might be a bit too early to get excited though.
Kane to Real Madrid transfer update
According to Fabrizio Romano and as reported by Tribuna, Real Madrid are yet to open any concrete talks with Tottenham over the transfer of Kane.
Someone like Kane would be a brilliant addition for Real Madrid. He is a proven goalscorer and if he stays in the Premier League, there is a good chance that he could break the record for most goals scored by a player in the English top flight.
Despite all his individual brilliance, Kane is yet to win a single trophy though. And as a result, he has been linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur for a while, even though nothing has materialised till now.
Kane’s contract with the club runs out in the summer of 2024. And it is believed that Tottenham Hotspur would look for a transfer fee around €100 million to part ways with him.
