Real Madrid and Chelsea have come up against each other on the pitch on several occasions in recent years. The Blues won the Champions League semi-final tie between the two teams in the 2020/21 campaign. Los Blancos came out on top in the quarter-finals last season. And this time around, they are set to meet each other in the last 8 once again.

It looks like Real Madrid have been impressed by some of Chelsea’s players as well. And they could try to sign them in the near future.

Kai Havertz is someone who arrived with a lot of expectations at Chelsea in the summer of 2020. And it would be a mistake to call the German’s time at Stamford Bridge a failure. He has scored a Champions League winner for the Blues, and was instrumental in them finishing in the top four last season.

Yet, it has felt like Chelsea have never quite found the right role for Havertz in their team. While he has been a standout performer for the Germany national team for a long time, he has shown his brilliance for the Blues only in spurts. Despite that, there are still clubs the level of Real Madrid keeping an eye on the silky German.

As reported by Defensa Central (via Calciomercato.com), Real Madrid have set their sights on Havertz.

Havertz has come under quite a bit of criticism during his time at Chelsea, but he has always remained a key player for them, thanks to his ability to play multiple roles. The German has also delivered in big moments for the club.

At the same time, it also feels like there is still a lot of untapped potential in Havertz. Perhaps the Premier League was never the right fit for him. Let’s see if Real Madrid end up making a move for the German next summer.
