Real Madrid’s La Liga title hopes are as good as over, as a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Barcelona saw them fall 12 points behind their eternal rivals. This was their third straight defeat against Xavi’s side and it does feel like the Catalan giants are creating a gap between themselves and Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
One thing that has become clear this season is that this current Real Madrid squad does not have enough depth. Ancelotti has received a lot of criticism but one cannot overlook the fact that he has not been dealt the best of hands.
Thus, whether Ancelotti is the manager come next season or not, the club must make several additions to their squad. And one player that they have been heavily linked with is Jude Bellingham, who is believed to be their number one priority for the summer.
The likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and PSG are also believed to be interested in Bellingham. On top of that, rumours have suggested that Borussia Dortmund will not let him go for a figure lower than €125 million. Thus, it will not be easy to sign him. The player has been urged to pick a move to Real Madrid though.
€125 million-rated superstar urged to join Real Madrid
As reported by HITC, Andy Townsend said while speaking to talkSPORT:
"“If Real Madrid come knocking, it is just the most exciting club by none.“The draw of that club might be too good for him to refuse. However, he is still going to have Manchester City, Liverpool and others who are going to be in for him. It is a fantastic position to be in.“He is (worth) £100 million plus. He is a brilliant player; up and down, a bit old school. I really like him and I think, if I was him, I would go to Real Madrid.”"
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Bellingham. There have been suggestions that Real Madrid have already held talks with his entourage regarding the possibility of a move.
But the Premier League will surely be an attractive proposition as well. At the same time, it will take a significant transfer fee to sign him. A figure in the region of which Real Madrid have not spent since signing Eden Hazard. Thus, there is still a long way to go in this race.
