Real Madrid were believed to have pulled off a major coup when they agreed a €60 million deal, including add-ons, with Palmeiras to sign Endrick in 2024. The 16-year-old is considered as the biggest talent to come out of Brazilian football since Neymar and has already earned comparisons with club legend, Ronaldo Nazario.
He had made a glorious start to life in senior football as well. In his first five appearances for Palmeiras, he managed to score three times. The hype looked clearly worth it.
Endrick’s form has been on a massive downturn since then though. The Brazilian wonderkid is in the middle of a 14-game goalless run. He has not scored even once since the deal with Real Madrid was announced. And now, it looks like he might be losing his place in Palmeiras’ playing XI as well, as he has been left as an unused substitute on the bench in their last two games.
Endrick is still just 16 years of age and it is way too early to make any judgements. But considering the magnitude of the investment that Real Madrid have made on him, it is only natural that fans have started worrying.
Real Madrid handed big problem by €60 million signing
One has to wonder if the pressure is getting to Endrick. He is just 16 years of age, but is already being hyped up as the next big thing in Brazilian football and is set to join Real Madrid when he turns 18.
Thus, taking him out of the Palmeiras line up for a while and letting him regain his focus, rather than extending his goalless run, might be a smart move on the part of the Brazilian club’s manager.
One can only hope that Endrick is able to rediscover his best form soon. He is a phenomenal talent just going through a tough time. Nothing more, nothing less.
