Cristiano Ronaldo is a Real Madrid icon and most probably the greatest player to ever pull on the royal white jersey. He would achieve tremendous success at Santiago Bernabeu, including four Champions League titles. He would end up leaving the club in 2018 in order to join Juventus in a move that not many would have seen coming. And since then, the Portuguese legend’s career has been on a downward trajectory.

Ronaldo scored plenty of goals during his time at Juventus but failed to achieve the big target there, and that was to win the Champions League. On the contrary, the Italian club moved in a backward direction during his three years there.

Ronaldo would then complete a blockbuster return to Manchester United in 2021. But we all know how that turned out. And he now finds himself in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr.

In the summer, there had been rumours that Ronaldo was even open to a transfer to Atletico Madrid in order to remain in the Champions League. Such a move would have undoubtedly hurt his legacy at Real Madrid. But it looks like that was not the case after all.

Ronaldo news will make Real Madrid fans happy

As reported by MARCA, Georgina Rodrgiuez told Spanish TV show El Hormiguero about the Atletico Madrid rumours:

"“That option has never been in his mind.”"

Real Madrid fans will be happy to hear that Ronaldo did not consider joining city rivals, Atletico Madrid. Of course, the opposition fans were not too keen to have him either, and there had been a few protests at the time when the rumours broke out.

Ronaldo is now at Al-Nassr and is having a decent time there, although he has not scored as freely as fans would have expected. He is now 38 years of age too, and it will be interesting to see if he ever plays in Europe again.
