Real Madrid will need their best players available if they are to finish this season strong and by winning some silverware. The La Liga title race might very much be a lost cause by now, but the club still have the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League to play for. And those are still very winnable, with the quality of players that Carlo Ancelotti’s side has.
They will need to perform at their best though. And one of the players who is expected to be vital moving forward is Toni Kroos.
Kroos has been a stalwart in the middle of the park for Real Madrid for almost a decade now. But there have been some question marks over his future at the club. There have been some suggestions that he could decide to hang up his boots at the end of the campaign. On the other hand, he is dealing with fitness issues at the moment as well. And thee is some mixed news for Ancelotti and company.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Kroos has not trained with the group so far this week. He has been working inside the facilities. But the German is expected for the return of La Liga.
Real Madrid handed mixed Kroos news
So, Kroos is not training with the group at this point of time. But the good news is that the expectation is that he will be ready in time to feature after the international break.
Kroos’ recent form has been questioned by many as well. Similar to long-time midfield partner, Luka Modric, he has not looked at his best after the World Cup break.
He is a big game player though and someone who knows how to raise his game to the occasion. Thus, as we head towards the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi finals against Barcelona and the Champions League quarter-finals against Chelsea, the expectation would be that Kroos regains his best form soon.
