Real Madrid have had to deal with a number of injuries throughout the course of this season. That has been one of the biggest reasons why they have struggled for form lately. The club had actually made a very good start to the campaign but the wheels have fallen off since then. And now, it looks like they might have been handed another headache.

One of Real Madrid’s most consistent players this season has been Thibaut Courtois. While those around him have struggled, the Belgian has been a picture of consistency.

Courtois has already dealt with a couple of injury problems this season though, albeit relatively minor ones. And now, it looks like another issue has forced him to pull out of the Belgian national team squad.

As tweeted out by the Belgian Red Devils, Courtois returned for precaution reasons back to Real Madrid due to a minor strain in the adductor.

One can only hope that the issue is nothing serious and that Courtois is back available for selection, by the time club football returns after the international break. Real Madrid might very well be out of the La Liga title race after their recent defeat at Camp Nou against Barcelona, but they still have quite a bit to play for this season.

They have a Copa del Rey semi-finals’ second leg coming up, once again at Camp Nou. And while they might be trailing 1-0 on aggregate, this is still a winnable tie, especially when you consider how many important players that Barcelona could miss in this match.

On the other hand, the Champions League might be their best chance of winning some silverware this season. In the quarter-finals, they will be taking on Courtois’ former side, Chelsea, for the third straight campaign.
