A number of players have been linked with Real Madrid in recent times as potential targets for the upcoming summer transfer window. One thing that is common between most of them is that they are youngsters with plenty of potential, who can potentially be a key part of Los Blancos’ first-team for the next decade or so to come.
That is part of Real Madrid’s transfer policy in recent years though, as they have moved away from signing Galacticos. And one of the players that they have been linked with recently is Gabri Veiga of Celta Vigo.
Veiga has been a standout player in Spain this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 9 goals and provided 3 assists in 25 La Liga appearances in this campaign till now.
Of course, Real Madrid are not the only club who have been impressed with the youngster’s performances. As reported by The Sun, claims from Spain suggest that Manchester City have joined Manchester United and Newcastle United in trailing Veiga. He is understood to have a release clause around £35 million.
Manchester City want to sign Real Madrid transfer target
Manchester City might need to strengthen in midfield soon. Two of their experienced players in the middle of the park, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva, could be on their way out of the club in the summer.
On the other hand, it is not hard to see why Real Madrid might be interested in signing Veiga. He ticks a lot of the boxes that the club look for when it comes to signing players these days.
Veiga is just 20 years of age and seems to have a huge future ahead of him. Does it lie at Santiago Bernabeu? Only time shall tell. It is clear that he will not have a lack of options to pick his next destination.
