Carlo Ancelotti has done a great job in his second stint as Real Madrid manager, and is loved by both players and staff around the team. However, the club’s form has been all over the place in recent months, as they have struggled to find any sort of consistency and the La Liga title race might be as good as over.
With Real Madrid’s 2-1 loss to rivals Barcelona increasing the gap to 12 points at the top of La Liga, it is safe to say that Ancelotti’s future is in doubt. His current deal runs until the summer of 2024.
On the other hand, Ancelotti is being linked to the Brazil national team job as well. Thus, it could be time too look for his replacement, and one candidate that Real Madrid has had on their radar for years, has recently become available.
Julian Nagelsmann is believed to have been on Real Madrid’s radar since 2018. And after his recent exit from Bayern Munich, now could be the club’s time to make their move for the German manager.
Real Madrid’s Nagelsmann chances handed boost
As reported by BILD (via Mundo Deportivo), Nagelsmann intends on taking some time to reflect on everything that happened to him at Bayern Munich. It is pretty much ruled out that he would go to Tottenham Hotspur right now.
The 35-year-old was shown the Bayern Munich exit door after only a season and a half, despite winning three trophies with the German club as well as going 8 for 8 in the Champions League this season while defeating teams like Inter Milan, Barcelona, and PSG.
Nagelsmann might not have been ready for a move to Real Madrid back in 2018. But now, with more experience from Bayern Munich under his belt, it could be time for the manager to make the switch to the Spanish capital.
With Thomas Tuchel no longer a free agent, Nagelsmann could be the best available option out there for Real Madrid. Of course, Mauricio Pochettino and Raul have also been linked with the Santiago Bernabeu job lately.
